DEAN WHITEDirectorDean brings over two decades of experience in elite sports to his role at Diamond. His journey began as a professional athlete at just 18 years old, playing for esteemed teams such as the Atlanta Braves and the Perth Heat in the Australian Baseball League (ABL). Transitioning from the field, Dean seamlessly integrated into various leadership positions within Australian baseball. Notably, he served as the Australian Women’s Bronze Medal Program Manager and Assistant Coach in 2014 and chaired the Womens's Committee from 2014 to 2016, demonstrating his commitment to both performance excellence, inclusive programs and administrative stewardship.
Since 2017, Dean has channeled his expertise and passion into Diamond, where he fosters an environment dedicated to nurturing high performance across all endeavours. As a visible presence across all our sites, Dean's leadership extends to his particular dedication to our Vocational Education Training programs, where he strives to empower individuals to reach their full potential. CORBAN WROEHEAD OF PERFORMANCECorban's showed his basketball skill as a teenager in QLD and was offered an AIS scholarship that propelled him to the University of Hartford on a coveted D1 Basketball scholarship. Upon completing his college tenure in 2015, he brought his expertise back to Australia as point guard for the Wildcats. His professional career culminated in 2018, and only recently retired from Warwick Senators in the NBL1 competition.
With over a decade entrenched in high-performance sports, Corban's transition into coaching was a natural evolution. In 2018, he joined Diamond, infusing his wealth of knowledge garnered from collegiate and professional basketball into his role. Specialising in Strength and Conditioning (S&C), Corban is committed to unlocking the full potential of Diamond's athletes. His strategic insights and innovative approach have positioned him as one of Australia's foremost coaches for athletic development. He spearheads Diamond's coach and intern development programs, fostering growth and excellence within the organisation. Leigh godfrey - OLYHEAd of pathways + Trainer & AssessorLeigh is our resident Olympian and Head of Education at Diamond. Her journey began with Softball, where she excelled on both WAIS and AIS scholarships. In 2009, Leigh received a Softball scholarship to Radford University in the USA, followed by a stint in the Dutch Professional League in 2013. Representing Australia since 2009, Leigh reached the pinnacle of her sport by competing in the Olympic Games in 2021. Transitioning from player to coach, Leigh joined Diamond in late 2020, focusing on developing the next generation as part of the AIS Gen32 Olympic Coach Program. She oversees all Diamond operations at Christ Church Grammar School and MLC, as well as leading our education department. Leigh's charismatic personality and commitment to excellence have a positive impact on everyone she encounters. Qualifications Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness | Trainer and Assessor Emmett O'BrienHQ PERFORMANCE ManagerEmmett's journey into sports science and strength and conditioning is a testament to his passion for sports and determination to pursue his interests. Hailing from Ireland, he grew up immersed in Gaelic sports like Hurling and Gaelic Football, with a sprinkle of soccer on the side, all thanks to his dad's influence. Sports were a constant presence in his household, fostering his love for athletic endeavors. After moving to Australia in 2008 and working in the trades for several years, Emmett decided to follow his passion for sports. With his wife's support, he returned to university to pursue a degree in Sports Science. It didn't take long for him to realize that his true calling was in Strength and Conditioning. Over the past four years, Emmett has honed his skills as an assistant in the S&C department at Claremont Football Club, dedicating himself to mastering his craft. In early 2022, he brought his expertise to Team Diamond, where he has already made a significant impact. Emmett now calls "HQ" home, and his dedication is evident as he can be found there most days, furthering his commitment to helping athletes excel. Mick Byersperformance coach + Trainer & AssessorMick brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Diamond Health & Performance, with a background spanning professional sports and education. Born and raised in Sydney, Mick's journey led him to study Teaching at the University of Western Australia. He furthered his education by completing a Master's degree in Strength and Conditioning at Edith Cowan University.
Mick's professional experience includes roles with prestigious sports organizations such as the GWS Giants, Western Force, Cronulla Sharks (NRL), and WS Wanderers (A-League), where he honed his skills working with elite athletes. Mick's versatility is evident in his coaching, having guided athletes of all levels, from youth to Commonwealth Games representatives in Judo and Boxing. Beyond his work in professional sports, Mick is deeply committed to youth development. At Christ Church Grammar School, he leads a comprehensive program encompassing sports performance, health & fitness, special needs, and education. Mick's dedication and knowledge make him a valuable asset to the Diamond Health & Performance team, where he continues to positively impact the lives of athletes and students alike. Lachy Poulterperformance coachLachy sporting passion is Cricket, especially in fast bowling and how to use strength + conditioning to help bowl faster. He currently plays first-grade cricket for Wanneroo District CC as a left-arm fast bowler with his site set on pushing for the next level.
Lachy also played volleyball through high school and after moving to Perth, played two seasons for Northern Stars Volleyball Club. After being offered a spot in the WACA academy he had to leave volleyball to focus on cricket, although he still holds a passion for the sport. He joined the Diamond Family because of his interest in the high-performance world and helping people reach their performance goals in their sports and daily life. Angus Easton-hayesperformance coachAngus grew up playing a variety of sports, although his passion lies with basketball and combat sports. Growing up competing in Taekwondo, he worked up to a 2nd Dan black belt, competed for 3 years in the WABL, and currently trains for boxing.
After dealing with terrible knee pain that preventing him from playing basketball, Angus fell in love with S&C coaching to better understand athletic performance and injury rehabilitation. In 2023, Angus served as an S&C Coach for the Swan Districts Football Club Colts program. In 2024, he became the Colts Head of Strength & Conditioning at West Perth Football Club, where he oversaw the development and conditioning of young athletes. Dave Farlieperformance coach + EducatorDave grew up in an incredibly sporty household with his personal focus being on court sports (tennis, basketball & netball). But a childhood obsession led to a lifelong involvement in the sport-adjacent world of professional wrestling.
In 2001, Dave was an integral component in bringing locally produced wrestling back to Western Australia & helped launch Perth's first professional wrestling training school shortly after. This school has been responsible for launching the full time wrestling careers of many, who have worked for the biggest professional wrestling companies in the world (WWE, New Japan Pro Wrestling). Wrestling has taken him all over the country, as he has performed & run training seminars in every major state in Australia. He also co-hosts an annual wrestling camp that attracts participants from across Australia, New Zealand & South East Asia. With two kids of his own, Dave's attention has more recently shifted towards the development of youth athletes. In 2015, Dave brought his extensive coaching experience to the Piara Waters Junior Football Club where he is now a life member. In following his kid's passions, & with a keen interest in human movement, Dave added parkour coach to his resume in 2022. Dave's passion to see people reach their potential makes him a coach that shows a keen interest in both their sporting & human development. Kristine Stroemperformance coachKristine brings a rich and diverse background in sports, as well as a deep passion for coaching and helping individuals reach their sport and performance goals. Originally from Norway, Kristine’s athletic journey spans multiple sports including rugby, soccer and dance, giving her a comprehensive understanding of both the physical and mental demands of sport.
While completing her Master's degree in Political Science - Public Health, Kristine discovered her true passion for coaching as a group training instructor. This realisation inspired her to further pursue a Personal Trainer certification alongside her studies. Kristine relocated to Perth after finishing her Master’s degree to further pursue a career in exercise and sport science. She is currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a Health major at the University of Western Australia. Matt FinbergPhysiotherapistMatt Finberg is a Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and has extensive experience in treating and rehabilitation of sports, musculoskeletal and post-operative conditions. Matt has a strong interest in conditions and injuries of the lower limb, with an emphasis on the knee and associated ligament injuries. More recently Matt was working overseas in Qatar at one of the most prestigious rehabilitation hospital centres in the world.
With over 13 years of experience Matt has spent time with the Western Force, Melbourne Rebels and the St Kilda Football club Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the gym and loves the beach.
