Our team is comprised of coaches and performance specialists who have lived the elite sports life. We don’t just watch you train, and cheer you on, we manage your development.
 

A Diamond coach is a mentor who understands the "highs and lows" of the journey. They are a high performer in their own right and have a passion to help others be at their best! 

 

Our goal is to improve the athlete, but our mission is to empower the person. We use strength and conditioning as the vehicle to build resilience, discipline, and self-belief, all traits that translate from the gym floor to wherever life takes you.

Director

Dean White

Dean brings over two decades of elite sports experience to Diamond High Performance. His journey began at just 18 as a professional baseball player for the Atlanta Braves and the Perth Heat, ultimately representing Australia at the 2005 Baseball World Cup. Transitioning from athlete to leader, Dean served as the Australian Women’s Bronze Medal Program Manager and Assistant Coach, and chaired the Women's Committee. Since 2017, he has channeled this elite mindset into Diamond, passionately leading the business to empower people to perform at their best! "Having spent my life in high-performance environments, nothing beats the reward of helping others unlock their own potential. Seeing them achieve at a level they never thought possible is really special." Head of Performance

Corban Wroe

Corban is the Head of Performance at Diamond and has been part of the team since 2018. A former elite basketballer, Corban earned an AIS scholarship as a teenager before heading to the United States on a Division 1 scholarship at the University of Hartford. He returned to Australia to play professionally with the Perth Wildcats and later the Warwick Senators in the NBL1. Corban now leads Diamond's performance systems, athlete development, programming, and coach development. His coaching philosophy is built around more than just physical results. It is about building confidence, developing good habits, and changing what people believe they are capable of. "I don't care what level an athlete is at or how lofty their goal is. If they show up, work hard, and commit to the process, I will always give them my best. The coaches I remember most from my own career were the ones who showed me they cared, pushed me, challenged me, believed in me, and expected more from me. That is the type of coach I strive to be." Leigh Godfrey - OLY

Leigh Godfrey is an Olympian and Head of Pathways at Diamond, bringing extensive high-performance experience across both her playing and coaching career in softball. Leigh's journey began in Western Australia, where she earned WAIS and AIS scholarships before securing a collegiate scholarship to Radford University in the United States in 2009. She went on to represent Australia for many years, reaching the pinnacle of her sport at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. In 2025, she was inducted into the Softball Australia Hall of Fame. Since transitioning into coaching in 2020, Leigh has become a key leader at Diamond. She is part of the AIS Gen32 Olympic Coach Program and currently serves as Head Coach of the Australian U18 National Program. As Head of Pathways, she leads the design and delivery of Diamond's learning programs, ensuring athletes and students receive meaningful support beyond sport. Known for her energy, leadership, and genuine care for people, Leigh creates an environment where everyone feels supported, challenged, and empowered to reach their potential. Mitch Tiernan

Mitch started with Diamond in early 2023 after graduating from his degree. Sport was always a huge part of his life growing up. However, Football (AFL) was always his passion. His passion for footy led him to begin umpiring on the days he wasn't playing, and after 7 years he was offered an umpire coaching role for the South Fremantle District.Throughout his schooling journey he was attracted to sport and exercise science and decided university was the pathway he was going to take. He completed his degree at Murdoch University, his practicum with the Perth Football Club, ASCA Level 1 and Cert IV in training and assessing. Since then, Mitch has gone on to run the strength and conditioning for the 14s,15s, Futures and Colts programs at the Perth Footy Club and solidified a full time position at Diamond as a Performance Coach. Mitch's work ethic and friendly nature are a rare combination that has allowed him to have immediate impact. Qualifications: - ​Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science - ASCA L1 - Trainer & Assessor

Emily Junk

Emily grew up in Regional Western Australia and found her passion for all things sport and fitness, playing a range of sports from tennis to hockey and everything in between, attributing her family and their love of sport for her's. Emily has a passion for high performance, injury prevention, and helping athletes, both professional and social, to achieve their potential. She spent last year as a trainer with the Perth Demons and is now an assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for both the Men's Seniours and the Girl's Rogers cup teams. She started working for Diamond at the start of the year and works at the MLC gym. Qualifications: - Bachelor of Sports Science: (Exercise and Health)

Angus Easton-hayes

Angus's sporting background spans martial arts, basketball, and now motorcycle road racing, a pursuit he hopes to continue for many years to come. It was an experience with serious knee pain at 17 that redirected his path and sparked a passion for strength and conditioning and what it can do for athletes dealing with injury. Growing up, Angus trained in Taekwondo, achieving a 2nd Dan black belt, before transitioning to basketball at 14 and competing in the WABL for three years. When chronic knee pain cut his playing days short in 2021, he turned his focus to understanding athletic performance and rehabilitation from the other side of the equation. In 2023, Angus served as an S&C Coach for the Swan Districts Football Club Colts program, before stepping up to Head of Strength and Conditioning for the West Perth Football Club Colts in 2024, overseeing the development and conditioning of youth athletes. He joined Diamond mid-2024 and hasn't looked back. What drives Angus is showing athletes what they are capable of, often well beyond what they believed was possible. Having navigated his own struggles with athleticism and injury, he brings a genuine understanding of that journey to every athlete he works with. Dave Farlie

Dave's path to Diamond started with a lifelong obsession with sport, from a background in tennis, basketball, and netball to becoming one of Australia's premier trainers in the world of professional wrestling, where he established the first professional wrestling school in Western Australia. Over the past decade, Dave has transferred those skills into youth football coaching, including community work with the Fremantle Dockers. As both an educator and a strength and conditioning coach at Diamond, he brings the same enthusiasm to everything he does, helping the people around him realise their full potential. As a father of two, Dave is particularly motivated by the development of youth athletes. Seeing young people discover what they are capable of is, in his words, incredibly satisfying. Kristine Stroem

Kristine grew up in Norway, participating in just about every sport possible, from soccer and dance to a wide range of summer and winter sports. That passion for movement eventually led her to Perth and to Diamond High Performance. After completing a Master's degree in Political Science (Public Health), Kristine moved to California, played rugby for UC Berkeley, and developed a deeper interest in athletic performance and coaching. She then made the decision to pursue a career in Strength and Conditioning full time. "My passion for coaching is twofold. On one hand, I love all the nerdy details behind developing athleticism, performance, and capability. But what I value the most is the opportunity to work so closely with our athletes, being part of something that means so much to them. Their sport plays a significant role in their life, and being able to support them through their challenges, successes, and growth is just so incredibly rewarding." Ben Myer

Ben joins Diamond with five years of experience in strength and conditioning across high-performance sport and rehabilitation settings in New Zealand. He has worked with organisations including NZ Futsal, NZ Water Polo, NZ Taekwondo, Central Hinds, and the Adam's Academy. Ben enjoys helping people perform at their best and values building strong relationships with athletes, coaches, and clients to achieve meaningful long-term results. He has worked across a wide range of populations, from elite sport to long-term rehabilitation, and consistently delivers a high-quality, people-centred approach. What drives Ben is helping people achieve goals they once thought were out of reach. Whether working with elite athletes or individuals rebuilding their confidence and physical capacity, seeing people progress and succeed is what motivates him most. Qualifications: - Bachelor of Sport and Exercise (Exercise Prescription) - ASCA Level 2 Coach Notable Achievements: - International Sport Scientist with NZ Futsal Whites in Fiji - Delivered national camps and testing for NZ Taekwondo and NZ Water Polo - Rehabilitation of a wheelchair-bound stroke survivor to walk, swim, and ride a modified bike

Johan "Renzo" Diocales 

Renzo's interest in high-performance sport began with his aspirations as a junior soccer player. Joining Diamond as an athlete in 2021 set him on the path to becoming a performance coach, sparking a deeper curiosity about how the body moves and performs. He has spent the years since building his knowledge across strength and conditioning and sport science, including a year abroad before completing his studies in Perth. Renzo brings a keen interest in the data used at Diamond and how it translates into meaningful, on-field performance outcomes. Outside of coaching, he enjoys discovering new sports and ways of moving, most recently through Muay Thai. What drives Renzo is the mix of chasing better physical performance and understanding the science that gets someone there. Qualifications: - Dual Degree of Sport and Exercise Science, Edith Cowan University and University of Portsmouth - Diploma of Sport and Business - Certificate III in Fitness

Johnny Ogilvie

John has led a varied career as both a performance coach and educator, working with teams including the Perth Heat, South Fremantle Football Club, and the Australian Men's Hockey Team. At Diamond, he has led the baseball high performance program for many years and delivered education classes to students across multiple sites. Away from the gym, John is consistently working to further his knowledge in the field, having recently completed a Masters of High Performance Sport. He holds accreditation as a strength and conditioning professional in both Australia and the United States, a combination that speaks to the depth of his expertise. On the sporting field, John has competed across a variety of sports throughout his life, most recently playing State League rugby and competing in both powerlifting and strongman tournaments. What drives John is helping people achieve their dreams. Whether on the sporting field, in the gym, or in the classroom, he genuinely enjoys seeing the people in his care succeed. Maggie Beckwith

Maggie is a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Reformer Pilates Instructor at Diamond, focused on helping athletes of all ages move well, build confidence, and perform at their best. Growing up playing AFL and netball, Maggie developed a deep love for sport and team environments. After graduating, she followed her genuine interests rather than a fixed plan, and that path led her into coaching, where she now works in a field she is passionate about every day. Maggie currently leads the Methodist Ladies' College Emerging Athlete Program and is involved in a range of school-based sport programs. She is also helping expand Reformer Pilates at Diamond as an additional tool for athlete development. She loves coaching for the connections it builds and for the opportunity to help each individual challenge themselves, train hard, and enjoy the process. Her goal is simple: develop well-rounded athletes who carry the habits built in the gym into competition and life. Bailey Friedlieb

Bailey has always loved being active, with a background spanning rock climbing, parkour, and mixed martial arts, his biggest passion today. That same drive to push limits led him to study physiotherapy at Curtin University, where he is now approaching the end of his third year. In 2024, Bailey achieved his ASCA L1 accreditation, completing his practical hours at Diamond HQ. He was drawn to the quality of coaching and the approachable community here and hasn't looked back. Bailey enjoys working with athletes of all ages to develop the attributes they need to excel in the activities that give them purpose. Leah York

Leah brings a strong, well-rounded background in sport and performance, along with a genuine passion for helping individuals train with purpose and reach their full athletic potential. Growing up in a highly sport-oriented family, with all of her siblings competing at a national level, Leah developed an early appreciation for the factors that underpin performance: resistance training, nutrition, recovery, and sleep. Her athletic journey spans basketball, netball, and AFL, with a primary focus on basketball, where she represented WA Country at Nationals from under 16s through to under 18s and competed in the NBL1 with the Southwest Slammers. After relocating to Perth, she found a new passion in athletics and surf lifesaving, going on to win gold in Beach Flags at the State Surf Life Saving Championships. Leah is committed to creating purposeful training environments and helping others build confidence, performance, and long-term enjoyment in movement. Max Bear

Maximus joins Diamond with 3 years of experience in strength and conditioning, where he has worked with high-performance athletes across all sports and ages. After working with elite organisations such as the Hurricanes, Olympic Kingsway SC, Nedlands RFC, and currently East Perth FC, Maximus is driven to help athletes chase their peak athletic potential and perform at the highest level in their sport. With a coaching philosophy centred around building strong relationships with the people he works with, Maximus will go the extra mile to help athletes achieve their goals. He's skilled at tailoring programs to an athlete's needs, whether that's performance, long-term athletic development, or rehab. The journey of progress is a long one and Maximus will stand by athletes throughout their journey, helping them move the needle and reach the top of their game. Ryan Slater

Ryan grew up in Albany, WA, before moving to Perth to pursue his studies and volleyball, playing for the Perth Steel in the Australian Volleyball Super League and earning selection to represent Australia. Ryan joined Diamond in 2020, before leaving to pursue his volleyball career further, returning to elite competition in 2023, spending a year training at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra before taking his game overseas to play professionally in Germany and Denmark. Now back at Diamond High Performance in 2026, Ryan draws on his professional and international playing experience to lead Strength and Conditioning and help shape the next generation of young athletes. Qualifications: - Bachelor of Sport Science, Exercise and Health.

Our Headquarters is where athletes, students, and everyday members come together to train in a high-performance environment. The facility includes a fully equipped gym, recovery centre with sauna, ice baths and recovery boots, onsite physio treatment, classrooms, basketball half court, and an upstairs mezzanine cardio area.

Baseball Ballpark, 
Thornlie

Based out of Empire Ballpark, this space gives athletes access to everything they need to train, recover, and develop. Alongside a fully equipped gym, the facility includes a recovery centre with sauna, ice baths and recovery boots, basketball half court, classroom space, table tennis games area, and open space for throwing and dyana work.
